Some people think that it is more important to have one language to be adapted as the official international language. Others say that it may lead to the loss of culture and identity of their country.
Language is the best means of communication. Some people claim that in the modern globalization era it is necessary to have only one language to communicate with the outside world. However, the others hold the opposite view point. Today, I will discuss the statement.
From the one side, language is the tool to identify a country’s culture. Clearly, with many famous common greeting such as Bonjour – “France’s greeting”, we can easily recognize people’s nationality and imagine their specific culture. Thus, if one nation loses their own language, they will lose their culture in many aspects such as masterpiece literatures, sweet songs or even memorable history fact .etc.
From the other side, a single international language plays a core role in global economic cooperation. In fact, without the availability of the same language, it may cause misunderstanding and conflicts would ensure over business negotiations, impeding collaborations between them. It not only makes the economy develop quickly but also creates more opportunities for developing countries in catching up with others. In addition, if people are equipped with a single international language, they can tell each other smoothly about their countries' specific cultures such as the traditional customs or the modern lifestyles, which enables people to expand their outlooks, viewing the world in new angles.
In short, the single international language contributes to global community in terms of economic and cultural communication. However, after the benefits of the globalization, we also try to maintain and preserve our language and culture, or eventually it will be disappeared.
